PROVENANCE : Collection of Colonel René Boutteçon A career military officer, Colonel Boutteçon was sent to Vietnam as an Engineer Battalion Chief to supervise a number of French infrastructure projects. He spent 23 months in Vietnam, taking the opportunity to meet Vietnamese artists such as TRAN Phuc Duyen and Nguyen Tien Chun in Hanoi. On this occasion, he bought lacquerware and objets d'art from Vietnam and China, which he brought back to France.
