VIETNAM, CIRCA 1920, Silver-plated metal set comprising a silver-plated covered box with openwork decoration of auspicious motifs and village scenes with characters among bamboo and longevity pines, and seven tumblers with frieze decoration of characters and foliage. (Small dent to the socket, glass bowl inside damaged). A silver-plated set comprising a silver-plated covered box with openwork auspicious motifs and village scenes with figures among bamboo and longevity pines and seven cups with frieze decoration of figures and foliage. (Small dent in the handle, glass cup inside damaged). H 12,5 cm - H 4 7/8 in PROVENANCE : Collection of Colonel René Boutteçon A career military officer, Colonel Boutteçon was sent to Vietnam as head of an engineering battalion to supervise a number of French infrastructure projects. He spent 23 months in Vietnam, taking the opportunity to meet Vietnamese artists such as TRAN Phuc Duyen and Nguyen Tien Chun in Hanoi. On this occasion, he bought lacquerware and objets d'art from Vietnam and China, which he brought back to France.
