Portrait of a young woman, Pahari school, possibly Kangra or Guler, Punjab, north India, 19th century Dim.: H 28.5 x W 24 cm (painting, on sight) - H 11 1/4 x W 9 1/2 in (painting, on sight) This beautiful portrait is painted in a style specific to the Pahari region of Upper Punjab, such as that of the Kangra school. A painting of a woman at her toilet in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, executed in Kangra around 1815 is typical of this style, which is also very close to our painting (IM.7-1912).
