ÉCOLE FRANCAISE VERS 1815 - PORTRAIT DU PRINCE JEROME NAPOLE - Lot 95
ÉCOLE FRANCAISE VERS 1815 - PORTRAIT DU PRINCE JEROME NAPOLEON CHARLES FREDERIC BONAPARTE FRENCH SCHOOL CIRCA 1815 Portrait of Prince Jérôme Napoléon Charles Frédéric Bonaparte (1814 - 1847) Original oil on canvas H 49.5 x W 63.5 cm Inscribed upper right 'S. A. J. et R. / Le Prince Jerôme Frédéric / Charles Napoléon Louis / Félix. Prince Royal of / Vestphalia'. The eldest son of Jérôme Bonaparte, King of Westphalia from 1807 to 1813, and Catherine of Wurtemberg, Jérôme Napoléon Charles Frédéric Bonaparte was born on August 24, 1814 in Trieste, where his parents were in exile following Napoleon's abdication. The various attributes depicted by the artist, including the crown the plaque and ribbon of the Order of the Crown of Westphalia, while his father was no longer king, testifies to the delicate situation situation in which the Bonaparte family finds itself. Jérôme Napoléon Charles Frédéric Bonaparte then sought refuge with his uncle, Guillaume I, King of Württemberg and served in the army. He rose to the rank of colonel and died at the age of 32 without issue. EXPERTS: CABINET TURQUIN
