HENRI LAVENDAN - Lot 165
HENRI LAVENDAN Le lit, moderne bibliothèque Paris Fayard, illustrations after watercolors by Jean Jamet. The bed, even more than the large dining-room table that has seen so much, is the indispensable faithful companion, who knows but says nothing. It knows fatigue, sad evenings and hopeful mornings, all kinds of loves, even the wildest, the most secret dreams and confidences made on its pillow... "I don't understand why we haven't thought of writing a little book about it. There would be masses of things to say". In 1894, a strange little book was published by Calmann Lévy. It was entitled "Le lit" ("The Bed"). It was written by Henri Lavedan, a great name in inter-century theater. "Le lit" contains twenty short scenes, acted and dialogued.
