HABERT-DYS JULES AUGUSTE 1850-1924) "Nouveaux documents décoratifs en couleurs", Paris, Armand Guérinet, no date (circa 1900). 330 x 240 mm, 4 pp. and 32 plates all in color, in publisher's portfolio. Ornaments, Flowers, Birds, Panels, Hangings, Borders. Jules Auguste Habert-Dys (1850-1924) was born in Fresnes, and studied ceramics with Ulysse Bernard in Blois. Blois and moved to Paris in 1873, where he spent four years in the studio of the painter Gérôme. He was later influenced by Félix Bracquemond, promoter of Japonism in France, who introduced him to the at the Haviland studio in Auteuil (c. 1875). But his work was essentially that of an illustrator illustrator, creating models for all trades. A fine copy, despite some foxing in the margins of the first plates. (GZ101)
