From 1921 onwards, Kharkov, the capital of Ukraine, underwent exceptional industrial and architectural development; the Gosprom complex (Liberty Square) built between 1926 and 1929 by Serafimov, Kravets and Fleger went down in 20th century architecture as one of the finest achievements of Constructivist architecture, prefiguring the megastructures of the 50s and 60s.
